The Canteens on Saturdays will be rostered by the teams / families playing U15s, 4ths and 5ths. We suggest 1 person would be sufficient.
The roster will begin next Saturday 25 November. Coaches please ensure you have made arrangements to staff the canteen during your games, family members / friends are most welcome.
A suggestion for 4ths and 5ths, you may find it easier to cover each others canteen.
Vikings have the Narrabundah Jnr BBQ again on Saturday 9 December, this is our last one for the season. We are looking at the U7 & U9 teams to cover this date.

Canteen Roster
Dear
senior players
As Sundays are our busiest days during our home games, all
senior teams have been rostered to run the canteen and bbq for the remainder of
the season. On 17 December 2nd and 3rd grade teams will share the duties as
these teams are made up of the same players.
The roster will begin with 4th grade scheduled for next Sunday's
home game on 26 November. It is the responsibility of the Coaches and players
to ensure you have times covered for your team.
If players are unable to man the canteen due to games etc,
family members/ friends are most welcome.
The women's team has generously nominated three full
Sundays. Suggest 4 x 2 hour roster.

Umpires for Vikings Home Games
- As previously mention the Umpiring roster will be promulgated, I think those that responded got what you wanted, if not please reply.
- I've also tried to place less experience player with more experienced players.
- You will notice that some names haven't made the roster yet, but as you can see that 5th grade for the second half of the season is yet to have a draw produced.
- If the day your umpiring doesn't work for you then please find a swap.
- If you miss your umpiring duty then you'll miss playing baseball.

Host Family Needed
Vikings Baseball Club are in need of a host family to accommodate our incoming player for 2017 / 2018 season.
As a host family you would provide
· A bedroom
· Meals as required; and
· A welcoming environment.
The duration of their stay would be from approx. October 2017 through to March 2018.
As a host family, there are many rewards this service can bring to your family such as excellent mentors and role models for young children and teenagers. Our imports would have also played competitive baseball for most of their life and have the skills and knowledge that I am sure can only benefit the players in your family.

Vale Richard "Rich" Rauter
We
are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Rich Rauter on Sunday morning. Our
condolences to Rich's wife Sadya and their children Hayley and Brad.
Rich
was a valued member of Vikings Baseball for many years as a player, coach and
club President.
We would
like to extend our condolences to Erni, Lisa, Zac, Jordyne and the Rauter
family.
Rich's
funeral will be held next Tuesday 19th September at 1:30pm at the Queanbeyan
Bicentennial Hall.

2017/18 Season Scoring Clinic. If you are keen to learn how to score or improve your skills, the 1st of 5 sessions will be held on Saturday 9 September 2017.

The ACT Baseball Umpires Association is holding courses for 'New' and 'Returning' umpires in preparation for the upcoming 2017/18 baseball season.

Expression of Interest In New Vikings Players Socks
Hello all
Just a
follow up on our recent email relating to our two new playing sock designs that
Tuggeranong Vikings Baseball Club are keen to order for the 2017-18 season.
We are
keen to finalise our order as soon as possible to ensure our socks will arrive
early in our season. To that end please place your order as soon as
possible, as the manufacturer requires minimum numbers. They are good
quality socks which are currently being used in the Australian Baseball
League. As 2018 is also our 40th Anniversary year, purchasing a pair of
socks would be a worthwhile momento of our club.
Once the club has an indication of the numbers required a price can be set, but at this stage price is in the vicinity of $25 to $30 per pair.

Baseball Canberra has adjusted the
date used to determine the age qualifications from what was used last season.
This change was brought about to align our Canberra competitions to the age
groupings applied to Little League competitions across the country by Baseball
Australia.

Vikings Junior Wrap
Vikings Junior Wrap: February has been a great month for our junior teams with Mac & Simon's u11s leading the way. The u11s have been the big improvers since the break, hitting & running the bases well with the pitchers doing an excellent job. The team has had 3 wins in a row, scoring 43 runs and only giving up 5 - nice job! Gordon's u9s are swinging the bats well with recent wins over the Bandits 15-4 & the Black Bears 13-2. Thank you to the u7s who have been helping out the u9s (Hamish McGregor and Bentley Masters) and a 'well done' to Imogine Masters who was the u9s 'player of the day' on Saturday. The u13s, after some close games and some that could have been closer, were back in the winners circle on Saturday. They play their final midweek game tomorrow night and still have an outside chance of playing finals if they continue their good play. The u7s have been enjoying themselves and have been making some impressive plays along with some great hitting. I'm hearing good things from opposition coaches & supporters about how the u7 Vikings are playing the game - nice job u7s. Our u15s have made big improvements over the season with recent wins over Rebels and a come from behind one run win over the Bears. With 7 wins the team is sitting in a well deserved 4th place. The big thing about the u15s has been improvements in making the routine outs, playing catch, not pitching walks and importantly looking to hit the ball when batting. They have been doing well what I like to call playing "Vikings Baseball".Only two weekends to play in the regular season - remember "the harder your train, the luckier you get" (Babe Ruth).Erni, Club Coach

Due to my long standing relationship with Vikings, Brett Fewson is offering this to Vikings as an introductory deal.
Following my discussions with Dovetail Bats in the US, they have set me up as a retailer here in Australia. As a result, this gives me flexibility in the prices and allows discounts as detailed below.
Turnaround is around 3-4 weeks (2 weeks for production and 1-2 weeks shipping and customs). Any colour combinations are possible, you can pick your own colour combination.
If a player orders 6 bats or more, there is no additional cost for their names to be engraved. Otherwise, all bats will be engraved with Professional Series. Names can be added to the bats for an additional $10 (this covers the setup cost of the machine)
All orders will be processed by myself and shipped to me. I will distribute to the club which will reduce the sale prices.
